Artist in the Community Scheme (AIC)

Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and community groups to work together on projects across all art forms. The AIC scheme is managed by CREATE. The aim is to encourage intense collaboration between community groups and artists to realise an artistic project or event. AIC offers a research and development award for artists, and project awards for community organisations or groups. Community Foundation for Ireland's Small Grants Scheme

The Community Foundation is accepting applications for the second round in 2006 from Community & Voluntary groups. The priority areas are to assist projects working to respond to Isolation and to develop a more Diverse society. The Small Grants Scheme will have a particular focus on: Carers, Older people, People Leaving institutions, Sexual minorities, Ethnic

Community Services Programme

The objective of the Programme (new name for the FÁS Social Economy Programme) is to support local community activity to address disadvantage, while also providing local employment opportunities. The programme is administered by POBAL. Each Partnership, Community Partnership, LEADER Group and Údarás na Gaeltachta is being requested to consult with local community projects within their area and to submit expressions of interest. Grants may be made to successful applicants to develop business plans for consideration under the new programme. It is anticipated that the plans submitted, together with those of existing projects seeking funding for 2007/'09, will be appraised later in 2006. Culture Ireland deadlines 2006

Culture Ireland is the national agency promoting Irish arts and artists overseas. It facilitates Irish participation at strategic international arts events, as well as emblematic cultural events either in Ireland or abroad. Guidelines emphasise professional arts/organisations. Applications are considered 3 times a year and need to be received at least eight weeks before the event for which funding is being sought. Deadlines: 15 December; 15 April; 15 August. Dormant Accounts Funding Projects supporting Prisoners / Ex Prisoners

Up to euro 0.5 million is being made available from the Dormant Accounts Fund under Category A for projects supporting Prisoners / Ex Prisoners. Applications are invited from community and voluntary groups who have experience of working with these target groups. This measure is intended to provide funding for addiction counselling and employment supports for prisoners and ex prisoners. A minimum grant limit of e30,000 will apply to addiction counselling and e25,000 for employment support. Dormant Accounts Fund - ICT Initiatives for Disadvantaged Young People

Up to €1 million is being made available to provide greater access to ICT and to promote ICT skills development among disadvantaged young people, particularly early school leavers. Applications are invited from locally based community and voluntary groups that have experience of ICT provision. Groups can apply for a minimum amount of €10,000. Consideration will be given to providing funding for a small number of large-scale projects, whereby such projects demonstrate the capacity to deliver innovative ICT initiatives that have an immediate impact in their local communities. Enhancing Disability Services Funding

Applications for funding are invited from voluntary, not for profit organisations working in the disability sector as part of a Multi- Annual Investment Programme for Disability. A sum of €6 million is being made available for 2007-2008. Appraisal of the applications and the management and support of successful projects will be undertaken by Pobal. European Cultural Foundation (ECF) Grants

Active in culture and the arts as well as the media and education, the ECF is Europe's only independent, non-national and pan- European cultural foundation. The ECF's arts programme supports innovative artistic practices and knowledge about those practices. Proposals regarding innovative projects in one or more of the six current priority areas are invited. Family Literacy courses

Grants available from NALA - The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) has received funding from both the EBS and the Department of Education and Science for its 2006 Family Literacy Project. The aim is to develop a family-literacy approach based on parents and children enjoying learning together. To apply for a grant to take part in this project you need to send a proposal to NALA. You can apply for support for tuition and/or materials. Proposals should arrive by by Friday 16 June 2006. Foras an Gaeilge Financial Assistance Scheme

Foras is inviting applications to its Financial Assistance Scheme (up to Eur5,000/£3,000) from small local community groups for events / activities to be undertaken in 2006. Advancement, promotion and preservation of the language must be demonstrated as the main aim of any project for which funding is being sought. Priority will be given to groups with an annual income less than Eur30,000. Organisations in receipt of other funding from Foras are not eligible to apply. Gulbenkian Foundation Grant Programme

The Foundation's Arts Programme supports individual professional artists working in partnerships or groups to support research and development activities for unconventional and unusual arts projects (particularly involving two or more artists with different specialist areas of expertise working collaboratively). Funding of up to Stg£10,000 is available. Trustees meet 3 times a year (March, July, November) and applications must be received 10 weeks before each meeting. In-Service Training /Placements funding for Teachers and Adult Educators

Grants enabling teachers and adult educators to participate in short-term in-service training courses, work placement or job shadowing activities throughout Europe for up to 4 weeks,

Irish Aid

Ireland's official aid programme was renamed 'Irish Aid' in February. The programme was previously known as 'Development Cooperation Ireland'. Irish Aid enters into funding partnerships with various types of organisations in the delivery of its programmes. Each type of grant offered is focused on different aspects of development, in response to the needs of the poorest people and countries in the world, including the Development Education Grants Scheme. Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund

The Environmental Partnership Fund promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale environmental projects at local level which involve partnership arrangements between local authorities and local community groups, schools and environmental NGOs. Local Agenda 21 encourages greater participation by communities in local decision making for sustainable development. The theme in 2006 will encourage projects that focus on environmental awareness and actions complementing the Race against Waste campaign. National Lottery Grants Health Service Executive (HSE)

The HSE has been allocated National Lottery Funding for distribution to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the Respite Care Grant Scheme and the National Lottery Grant Scheme. Applications are invited from groups and organisations involved in the provision of health and personal social services for once off funding for viable projects which can be completed within a reasonable period of time. Each HSE area has a separate application form, available from the HSE website. http://www.hse.ie . Completed applications must be delivered to the relevant address for your area no later than Friday 9 June 2006. Queen's Institute of District Nursing in Ireland funding - The Institute provides funding for services for palliative home care to the terminally ill, the instruction and/or training of nurses and to provide assistance for the sick and socially disadvantaged in their own homes. The funds are intended to help where there is either undue delay in obtaining the required assistance, or where funds are not available from the statutory authorities. Individuals and Organisations may apply for funding at any time throughout the year by submitting a completed application form. Applications are considered on a quarterly basis.

Training Funding for the Community and Voluntary Sector

The Wheel - Training Links is a pilot programme offering funding opportunities for training to community and voluntary organisations. Under this programme, groups of organisations that choose to come together and work collaboratively to address their shared training needs become a Training Network, subsidised by The Wheel over the period of the programme, to develop and implement training which they would be not be in a position to undertake as effectively on their own.
